Celebrated director Stanley Kubrick pushed the boundaries of art and cinema in his 1971 production of ” A Clockwork Orange “. Adapted from Anthony Burgess’ novel with the same title, the film has become a cult classic and an iconic representation of Kubrick’s visionary talents. The first British film to be given the infamous “X” rating upon its U.S. release for sexually explicit material and senseless violence, Kubrick later re-released the movie (after editing a few scenes) to an “R” rating. The offered relic is from the movies short lived run under the “X” rating. Designed by legendary movie poster illustrator Bill Gold (“Casablanca”,” The Sting”, “A Street Car Named Desire”, “Cool Hand Luke”, “Platoon”, “Unforgiven”, “Mystic River” – to name a few) the now renowned image of “Alex” with dagger in hand has become a part of pop culture. An original 27”x41” US 1 sheet, the poster has been professionally Linen Backed and restored to present boldly. The process has left the piece showing little of its fold lines with no visible signs of paper loss, pin holes or other minor blemishes. Minimal toning around the border is present, but nothing uncommon to its rivals. The poster is housed in a black frame (31 1/8”x44 7/8”) with orange inside trim showing moderate scratches & chipping.
The poster can be carefully removed from the frame and rolled for shipping purposes.
