Description

The offered pair of original sports related movie posters features two iconic Hollywood actors in the earlier stages of their respective careers. A young Anthony Perkins and Paul Newman both stamped their resume’s in the mid-1950s portraying real life sports figures in ” Fear Strikes Out”( Jimmy Piersall) & ”Somebody Up There Likes Me”( Rocky Graziano) respectively.

”Fear Strikes Out”:
1957 original 27”x41” one sheet unrestored poster. Displaying vibrant colors, the edges have minimal fraying with a small amount of paper loss on the right center and lower right center fold lines. Pin holes and minor toning are present in the common areas as well as a “57/43 Fear Strikes Out” stamping on the reverse of the poster.

”Somebody Up There Likes Me”:
1956 original 27”x41” one sheet unrestored poster. Stamped on reverse in red “ Somebody Up There Likes Me “ 1 Sh 56-309 and black “ Magnolia Theatre New Albany, Miss. While the colors still present vividly, the piece has been subject to water damage and has a wrinkled effect most likely due to improper storing methods. The borders are slightly frayed with the bottom receiving most of the damage. There is toning present along the fold lines as well as minor paper loss. The improper storage has also caused “extra” fold llines. Interestingly there is a pencil notation on the reverse for when the poster was to be displayed – “Sun-Mon-Tues, Oct. 7-8-9”.

These items are stored in their original folds and ship as such.
