” A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men” quoting Gene Wilder’s enthralling character Willy Wonka from this American cult classic. Adapted from Ronald Dahl’s novel “Charlie & The Chocolate Factory”, director Mel Stuart brought to life an unimaginably free-spirited kooky candy maker and entrenched his melodic foolishness and “everlasting” values into the hearts of children for ages. The presented 1971 US 1 Sheet 30”x40” Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory theatrical release poster is a pleasant reminder of youthful times of pure imagination and chocolate’s. The offered piece is a tougher 30”x40” version and presents in fair condition. Rolled up for storing has left the poster without fold lines though many small wrinkles are visible throughout. Tape residue is evident across the top and bottom borders with the edges home to several small tears. Paper loss is seen in the top right corner as well as several spots on the reverse. Also present is a stain located just above the right arm of the outstretched Wonka. An opportunity for possible restoration and Linen Backing is present and as Wonka would say ”Where is fancy bred?, In the heart or in the head.”
