Make an important acquisition for your sports library, by winning this 1919 first edition of "Commy" by G.W. Axelrod. Sub-titled "The Life Story of The Grand Old Roman of Baseball", this hardcover book relates the career of baseball lifer Charles Comiskey, who owned the Chicago White Sox from 1901-1931, and was an MLB player and manager in his earlier days. Solid and attractive, this antique book has clean, supple pages, that range from off-white to light-cream. The nicely preserved cover boards are handsome, however there is moderate wear at the top and bottom of the spine, and a dime-size stain with bits of foreign matter is noted on the back cover, near the bottom left corner. Accompanying is the fairly scarce original dust jacket, which is intact, with a distinct cover photo, and considerable staining on the spine.
