In Jose Canseco’s impressive first two full seasons, his home run power was never in question with 33 and 31 respectively, but in 1987 Jose showed power on the basepaths, swiping an impressive 40, to go along with 42 home runs – the first Major Leaguer to accomplish this impressive feat. Since then, Bonds, A-Rod, and Soriano have joined the 40-40 Club.
Canseco commemorated this achievement by adding a “Mr. 40/40” inscription in the same dark blue ink he autographed the middle barrel area in (“9-10”). PSA/DNA examined this Worth WC178 Ash Bat and deemed it not only authentic from the labeling period of 1990-1991, but offered a GU8 for game use as well. The handle displays rosin, and the barrel some staining, scuffing, blue discoloration and dings, and “JC 4 WC178” is visibly stamped on the knob. The bat is 34” and weighs in at 34.5 oz.
