Fan favorite Mickey Mantle announced his retirement on 3/1/69. Several different pins honoring the magnificent switch-hitting slugger were issued that year, and for our money, and maybe yours as well, the one offered here is the best of the bunch. Issued by the MLBPA, this 3-1/2" diameter pin is styled with a Mantle photo, flanked by stars, and two different logos. On the left, is the Major League Ballplayers shield, and opposite on the right, resides the MLB logo. Seen on the edge is the MLBPA copyright dated 1969, along with the credit "MFG: R-R Winona, Minn". Printed below the photo, is the legend "Mickey Mantle New York Yankees". With deference to a very small mark between the words "York" and "Yankees", this large format pin shows pleasing (EX-MT+) quality.
