Nobody's perfect, but Cal Ripken Jr. came mighty close. One of the ways the Orioles Hall of Fame shortstop perfected his craft was batting practice, where he used the offered Louisville Slugger bat. A "Genuine F149" Ripken signature model with number "8" written on the knob, this ash war club dates from the period 1986-1988. Weighing in at 31.5 oz., this 35" long bat has a natural handle, and a "Walker" finish on the barrel. Considerable authentic use is evident, with numerous ball contact marks on the barrel, and two cracks on the handle. Ripken came very close to perfection, when he applied his ("9-10") strength silver felt-tip pen autograph on the barrel. Full photo LOA from PSA/DNA for use; auction LOA from JSA for the autograph.
